Women's Health Expo
A free Women's Health Expo will
be held at the Rosebank Lodge,
Balclutha on May 10 from 6pm till
There will be diabetes, breast and
skin checks, dieticians,
naturopaths and hair specialists,
as well as makeup, hair, clothing
and jewellery stalls. It is supported
by Positively Clutha Women and
Clutha Health First.
Balclutha and Tapanui
The Clutha District Youth Council
will hold two discos on Friday, May
10. The discos will be held at the
Balclutha War Memorial Hall and
the Blue Mountain College Hall in
Both discos have a jungle theme.
There will be activities and prizes,
and food and drink will be on sale.
The discos will be held from 5pm
till 6.30pm for years 1 to 6, and
from 7pm till 9pm for years 7 to
10. Entry is free.
The Boundary Riders will perform
on Saturday, May 11 at 7.30pm,
at the South Otago Theatrical
Society clubrooms on George St,
They present musical tales of New
Zealand pioneer women, featuring
Rachel Dawick and Jon Sanders,
and special guests.

Trust builds pathway
to tourism and growth
in Clutha and district

Tourism and visitor strategy
will be among the first projects
of the Clutha Development
Trust, which began operating
on April 2.
Executive officer Linda Moore
said the first project was the
development of the Clutha
District Visitor Strategy during
the next three months.
''This strategy will set the
platform identifying opportun-
ities for the district's future
The trust also had a strategic
objective to maximise tourism
opportunities and enhance the
''exciting'' establishment of
ventures like the Clutha Gold
Cycling and Walking Trail, she
The trust has four aims: to
provide support and services in
primary production support and
development, business support
and development, workforce
development and support and
destination/marketing. A con-
tact database for the primary
production sector is being built
that will allow the trust to
concentrate on individuals, sec-
tors and communities.
The information and details will
allow the trust to react to
opportunities or issues.
Discussions were also planned
to focus on helping drive the
benefits of the primary growth
partnerships into the Clutha
District's agribusiness sector,
and assisting to develop com-
munity focused, collaboratively
managed water quality
networks, Ms Moore said.
The trust was formed with input
from the Clutha Agricultural
Development Board, Enterprise
Clutha and the Clutha District
Development Board late last
Enterprise Clutha and the
District Development Board
have since disbanded but the
Clutha Agricultural Develop-
ment Board is continuing.
The initial team of Ms Moore,
business development adviser
Sarah Hayward, and trust co-
ordinator Kelsey Harrison are
operating out of a refreshed
Development House building at
