Preheat oven to 180C. Line a slice
tray with baking paper, melt the
first three ingredients gently in a
large pot. Add the flour, nuts, baking
powder and rice bubbles. Place in
slice tin and press down. Bake for
15-20minutes. Keep an eye on the
slice so it doesnt over colour on top.
To make icing: heat butter in a pot,
add the golden syrup, then icing
sugar and mix well. Ice while hot
and cut into squares before it cools.

150g butter ½ cup sugar
1 tblsp golden syrup
½ tsp baking powder
and rice bubbles
SYRUP SLICE TO MAKE
1 tblsp golden syrup
¾ cup icing sugar
Store in the freezer.
You do not need to defrost
this slice to enjoy it.

RESTRICTED FIRE SEASON REVOKED
Public Notice is hereby given that the RESTRICTED
FIRE SEASON which had been declared over the Clutha
District will be REVOKED AS FROM 6.00am on
Wednesday 1 May 2013.
An Open Burning season will be in effect, except in
those areas within a radius of one (1) kilometre from
Ernslaw One Forests (Southern RFD) and Department of
Conservation land and within 500 metres of Wenita and
City Forests plantations. Permits to burn in these fire
safety margins are still required and should be obtained
from the Rural Fire Authority for that area. Neville Hills

APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING
Do you require financial assistance for arts and
cultural activities within the Clutha District Council
Applications for financial assistance under the
Creative Communities Scheme are now being called
for. The scheme is designed to increase access and
participation in the arts through the support of local arts
The scheme has three criteria for assessing applications
and allocating funding. Projects should meet one or
more of the following criteria:
• Broad Community Involvement -- The project will
create opportunities for local communities to engage
with and participate in arts activities.
• Diversity -- The project will support the diverse arts
and cultural traditions of local communities, enriching
and promoting their uniqueness and cultural diversity.
• Young People -- The project will enable and encourage
young people (under 18 years) to engage with and
actively participate in the arts.

2013.DRAFT ANNUAL PLAN 2013/14
Council would like to advise that from 8 April its draft
Annual Plan for the 2013/14 financial year will be
available for inspection and submissions.
The draft plan aims to provide you with the answers to
three basic questions -- what Council is proposing to do
in the year ahead, how much it is expected to cost, and
how you will know what's being achieved. The plan is a
continuation of the objectives and projects outlined in
Clutha District Council's Long Term Council Community
Copies of the full draft plan will be available for inspection
at the following locations:

POSSUM CONTROL - POISON WARNING
Mainland Vector Contracting wishes to advise that a
ground-based possum control operation will be taking
place to keep possum numbers under control to prevent
spread of disease. This operation will be conducted as a
part of the TB free New Zealand programme.
Areas Covered: The controlled area starts at the North
Western end where Pillans Rd meets the Clutha River, then
travels up Pillans Rd to Hillend Rd, then follows this to the
Milton Highway then onto Birss Rd, down Birss Rd to the
train tracks and follows them to Stirling then the boundary
carry's on to Balclutha but excludes the town and follows
the Clutha River back to Pillans Rd. Operation date
29/4/2013 to the 30/07/2013. Poisoning methods.
Possum habitats will be targeted using Feratox
encapsulated baits in bait stations and will be attached to
trees, and fence posts. Feratox capsules (dyed green) to
be placed in a peanut paste inside biodegradable bait
stations. The public is warned not to enter these areas and
not to remove carcasses or baits. Baits are dangerous to
people and dogs.
* Do not touch poison baits/bait stations/traps
* Do not touch poisoned possum carcasses
* Keep pets under supervision; do not let dogs eat
* Do not leave children unattended
* Follow the advice on the poison warning signs

ASPIRING LEADERS FORUM 2013
