Tiny club is going to national finals

will be represented by its top
men's team at the national
interclub finals later this month
after a stunning zone 6 division
one upset win in Dunedin at the

It is the first time the small
Kaitangata men's club of 16
players has reached the national

Clinton-Lawrence women's team
also qualified for the national
division one sevens finals.

The Tapanui-based team are the
South Otago senior club cricket
On Saturday, they beat Milton by
51-runs in the final of the 40-over
clash at Tapanui, with all-rounder
Michael Stuart turning in a
Stuart top scored with 63 as
Milton scored 154 all out after 31
overs and then took two wickets
for 25 runs as Milton folded to be
all out for 103 in 29 overs.
Stuart was also involved in the
key partnership, putting on 76 for
the fourth wicket with Craig
Joyce, who was the second
leading scorer with 31, followed by
Luke Potts with 28.
None of Milton's batsmen could
stick around long enough in their
chase, with Raymond Burleigh
and Peter Grant both scoring 20.
Julian Kelly, 3-18, and Jordon
Cudd, 3-22, did the damage with
the ball for the winners.
