The West Otago Health Trust is looking for
help with its latest fundraiser. Forestry
company Ernslaw One has invited the WOHT
to harvest this year s crop of cones at its
Douglas Fir seed orchard at Millers Flat as a
fundraiser. The trust needs 20 volunteers
each day for about six days to work from 8am
till 5pm in teams to collect cones from the
trees. About 80 per cent of the cones are
harvested from ground level, so anybody can
help. Full instruction and a daily briefing will
be done by Earnslaw One staff. Transport will
be provided (car pool from Tapanui and
Heriot). People will need to bring their own
lunch and drink, overalls (or old clothes),
leather gloves (or similar) and a hat. The start
date is expected to be about February 18. The
fundraiser is expected to raise about
$40,000 for the new facility. For more
information or to volunteer contact convener
Andrew Morris on 205 8831 or
