May, 1956, The Family
Carrying Business of
T.V. Keach & Sons
was purchased by our late father Vic, from the late
Bruce Stevenson. Starting off with one 1947
Studebaker Flat Deck, 3 tonne, fawn in colour
with red mudguards, moving freight from Rail to
many clients in Balclutha.
The journey for me started 1962 and Colin
(smiler) 1969. Over the years we have both been
privileged to have met and moved freight for so
many loyal people, big and small.
The years have finally caught up with us (long
days and weekends) the mind is willing, but the
body is weary.
After much thought and discussion over especially
the last 6 months, the hardest decision we both
have had to make, is to move on and sell the
Family Business, that has been such a large part of
our daily lives. How Barbara, Diane and families
have put up with us is not hard to imagine, but we
together with heavy hearts and tinged with a
sense of sadness wish to advise to one and all that
we have sold to Mclellan Freight Ltd, and wish
them all good luck and success.
We also would like to sincerely thank the many,
many businesses and people of Balclutha, Catlins
and S.O Area in general for their continued and
loyal support. Also to all the Staff of these many
businesses, thanks for the help, that made our job
so much easier.
It has been a privilege to have served and known
So as the flag of T.V. Keach & Sons is lowered we
look forward to perhaps a new venture, holiday,
P.S Colin and myself will be staying on in the
interim to help with the transition and look
forward to keeping in contact with you all.
To my Brothers, Micheal and Laurie who have
worked with us at various times and all other
employees, thank you for putting up with us and
for your part in the smooth, but busy operation of
moving Freight and Furniture.
Once again thank you all and we along with our
families wish you all a Merry Christmas and
healthy New Year
Signed Barrie & Colin "Smiler"
