PRETTY ALMOND PEARS
225 grams ground blanched almonds
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/2 tablespoons fne semolina
3/4 cup orange-fower (or rose) water
225 grams icing sugar
Grease and lightly four a baking tray. In a large bowl, mix together ground
almonds, sugar, semolina, and 3 tablespoons of the orange-fower (or rose)
water. Knead mixture into a sof dough. Leave to rest for ten minutes. With
wet hands, break oﬀ walnut-sized pieces of dough and mould into pear
shapes. Poke a whole clove into the pointy end of each pear to represent a
stalk. Place the pears onto the baking tray. Bake at 180 deg C for 20 minutes
(covering with aluminium foil to prevent browning, if necessary). When
thoroughly cool, quickly dip pears in remaining orange-fower (or rose) water,
and roll in a generous coatng of icing sugar. Leave to dry for 1-2 hours. Before
serving, sieve with a fresh dustng of icing sugar
These traditonal Greek sweets make an atractve gif-alternatve to
chocolates when placed in colourful paper cases.

APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING
Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund
Applications are being called for the Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund.
The Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund is designed to help subsidise travel for
junior teams participating in local sport competition.
Application for the Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund is open to rural sports
clubs and rural school teams with young people aged between 5-19 years
who require subsidies to assist with transport expenses to local sporting
competitions (this excludes travel to regional or national events).
Applications will be for travel expenses that will be incurred for the period
1 January 2013 to 31 December 2013. The closing date for applications
is Friday, 9 November 2012.

Alison Ludemann at the Council administration office on phone 419-0200
or at your local service centre.
NOTIFICATION & SCHEDULE OF MEETINGS
Public notice is given in terms of Section 46 of the Local Government
Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 that meetings of the Clutha
District Council for the month of October 2012 will be as follows:
West Otago Community Board: October 3 at West Otago Community
Centre commencing at 10.30 am.
Lawrence / Tuapeka Community Board: October 3 at Lawrence
Service Centre commencing at 3.00 pm.
District Development Board: October 17 commencing at 3.30 pm.

NON SPRAY REGISTER
The Non Spray Register register is cleared on a three-yearly
basis and has been cleared this year. Residents who have
applied previously will need to reapply. If you would like your
property frontage added to the Non Spray Register please contact
the Clutha District Council or your local Service Centre for the
Terms and Conditions and Application form. Forms can also be
downloaded from the Council website www.cluthadc.govt.nz

OILING BY COUNCIL'S CONTRACTOR --APPLICATIONS

Residents seeking to have dust suppression applied to the
unsealed roadway fronting their properties by Council's Contractor
must have a completed application form returned to Clutha District
Council, 1 Rosebank Terrace, PO Box 25, Balclutha by
FRIDAY, 5 OCTOBER 2012.
OILING BY APPLICANT -- APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED FROM SEPTEMBER
Applications for applying dust suppression by applicant are
accepted from September until February, completed application
forms must be returned to Clutha District Council, 1 Rosebank
Terrace, PO Box 25, Balclutha 9240.
All application forms need to be completed annually.

DELAYS EXPECTED -- CLUTHA VALLEY ROAD
Due to a logging operation, short delays (of five to ten minutes) can be
expected on Clutha Valley Road between Barnego Road and Pillans
Road. Delays may occur anytime between the hours of 7am and 4pm
Monday to Friday between 10th September and 31st October.

ADVERTISING TERMS AND
In accepting an advertisement (including a notice) for publication,
and in publishing it we are doing so in consideration of and relying
on the advertisers express warranty, the truth of which is essential:
a. That the advertisement does not contain anything that is
misleading or deceptive or likely to mislead or deceive or which
otherwise breaches the Fair Trading Act 1986. That is defamatory or
indecent or which otherwise offends against generally accepted

c. Publication of the advertisement will not give rise to any liability
on our part or in a claim being made against us.
2. The advertiser agrees to indemnify us against all losses or costs
arising directly or indirectly from any breach of those warranties by
the advertiser and from any costs incurred in our making corrections
or amendments in accordance with the terms that follow.
3. By supplying or placing an advertisement for publication the
advertiser grants us a perpetual, royalty free license to reproduce the
advertisement in any print or electronic advertising media we offer
advertisers now or in the future.
4. Where the advertiser utilises any aspect of our creative services in
the design or production of an advertisement (including photo-
graphic or design work) the advertiser acknowledges that we own the
copyright in such work and that such work is not work for which a
commissioning payment has been made or agreed.
5. We may refuse to publish, or withdraw an advertisement from
publication without having to give a reason.
6. We may publish the advertisement on the next available day if
there is an error delay in publication of the advertising as booked.
7. We may correct or amend advertising to conform to style or for
other genuine reason as long as we do so using reasonable care.
8. We may take orders for advertising in specific spaces (space
orders). The space may be used only by the advertiser for advertising
of the advertisers usual business and may not be transferred by the
advertiser to another person.
9. The guarantees contained in The Consumer Guarantees Act 1993
are excluded where the advertiser acquires, or holds himself out as
acquiring, goods or services from us for the purpose of a business.
10. The advertiser must tell us as soon as possible if there is an error
or omission in any advertisement the advertiser has placed. We will
not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss (which includes
loss of revenue or profit) from an error or omission or failure to
publish and if we are found to have any direct liability for any
circumstance that liability is limited to the cost of the space of the

obtained from us.
12. The charge for an advertisement will be in accordance with the
published rate card applying at the time for the publication, unless
we agree otherwise in writing. Rate card adjustments will apply to
space orders with effect from advertising appearing 28 days after the
rate adjustment is published on our rate card. Rates for space orders
apply for the whole space and are not reduced if the whole space is

residents will be zero-rates for GST purposes. GST will be applied at
the standard rate to advertising placed by non-resident agents acting
for New Zealand resident principals.
14. If payment for advertising is not made by due date (which is the
20th of the month following invoice. unless we specify otherwise ) the
advertiser will be liable for interest at market rates and all costs of
recovery, commissions and collection fees.
