Marvel at monstrous myths as we discover
Ghastly Gargoyles and Gruesome Gorgons
with our first school holiday shock-buster
on Tuesday 2 October.
Hear the epic tale of Perseus, who defeated
snake-haired Medusa, then craft your own
clay gargoyle with a protective gorgon
charm to take home. Howl at the moon with
Wacky Werewolves on Tuesday 9 October --
sink your fangs into the facts behind the
legend and concoct a terrifying
Want to know what lurks in the dark
corners of the Museum s galleries? Join
forces with our mysterious monster slayer
in Marvellous Monsters as we take an
adventure tour to uncover mythical beasts
and cunning feats from around the world,
every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
Muster your courage for our freaky science
shows on Tuesdays, Thursdays and
Sundays as we discover the science of
Learn why our bodies respond to fear with
knocking knees and piercing screams in
Freaky Fear. Then, explore the darkest
depths of the ocean with Peculiar
Predators, and meet marine monsters with
scary skills for finding food.
Dastardly deeds are afoot in the Museum
and we need your help! Solve the creepy
cryptic clues on the Dastardly Deeds Trail
to uncover the sinister scheme of a sanni
yakku demon! This free trail is available
from the Search Centre Desk all day, every
day of the school holidays. Discovery
Squad is back with a scarily good selection
of activities to stimulate bright young
minds these holidays, weekdays from
Monday 1 October to Friday 12 October.
Strap on a space suit as you become an
astronaut for a day and launch a rocket
into the outer reaches of space.
Celebrate the 150th anniversary of Lewis
Carroll s classic Alice s Adventures in
Wonderland with a trip down the rabbit
hole for a Mad Hatter tea party.
Make movie magic as we expose the
secrets of special effects with
delightfully disgusting fake blood and
Get grubby with creepy crawlies and
make a bug hotel, complete with bug
Grab your pirate hat and set sail for a
day of nautical nonsense as you learn
the secrets of the Maritime gallery.
Scare up the Museum s spookiest
specimens, discover remarkable rituals

Face Tropical Horrors in the Tropical Forest
every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and
Sunday at 2pm. Separate fact from fiction
and learn the truth about the tropical
horrors in the Tropical Forest. Come face-
to-face with tarantulas and piranhas, some
of the most scream-inducing creatures on
the big screen.
Get amongst it in Discovery World with
hands-on experiments! Explore the
remarkable racket your body makes with
Body Sounds daily at 11am and 3pm, then
experiment with fantastic fabrics designed
for dangerous deeds at 1pm with The
Wearable Science Show!
These super science shows are free with
your admission to Discovery World Tropical
Also, SCINEMA 2012: Festival of Science
Film is back these holidays, screening all
day in Discovery World. Learn about global
warming, art and technology with this
specially selected series of films.
Do you walk under ladders? Unravel the
mysteries of Superstition Secrets as we
explore this strange side of human nature,
daily throughout the school holidays.
